Obama’s Last Supper Dilemma

On the left is an official White House photo taken on Feb. 10, 2009 “The President meets with the Democratic Blue Dog coalition in the State Dining Room”. I kept staring at the picture with a feeling that I have seen such a scene before. Then it struck me – Da Vinci’s Last Supper. There he was the leader in the middle of the table dinning with his followers. Only some of them have their own agenda.

President Obama told ABC News on Monday:

I’d rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president. You know, there is a tendency in Washington to believe our job description, of elected officials, is to get re-elected. That’s not our job description. Our job description is to solve problems and help people.

It is great that the President realizes that the crowds are no longer with him and this may be his first and last mandate as president. The question for Barack Obama now is whether to follow his socialistic religious believes or follow the crowd. And because Obama is no Messiah I would suggest for him to follow the people.
We the people elect our president to follow us. We don’t elect deities to enlighten us. Disciples had to listen to Jesus for he is the Lord. With the President it is exact the opposite. Obama has to listen to voters. People are sheep to Jesus, but dogs to Obama. Voters in Massachusetts put a check on Obama’s rule – he will not be all powerful any more. In fact he was never all powerful, because only God is almighty.

President has to learn to be humble and listen. If Obama was listening to those blue dogs from the picture year ago he wouldn’t be in such political trouble now, because the power of the president in America comes from the people not from the Communist Manifesto.

I respect President’s believes, but he took an oath to the constitution and he needs to follow the majority, not to force them into places they don’t want to go.

Obama does not want to be mediocre President. Good. We did not elect him to be great – we hired him to do the job as best as he can. And help him God!”To solve problems and help people” is about right job description. Only we want the President to solve our problems (like unemployment) before he solves his problems (like spreading of the unionization). We also want the President to help all the people by setting fair rules that are the same for everybody, not just helping some people (in GM, Fanny and Freddie and AIG). Picking winners and losers is in the core of Obama’s socialistic believes. The idea that some Big Bureaucrat knows better is wrong. Only God knows better. What is left for the humans (including the President) is just a humble attempt to make life better.
